MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH SERVANTHOOD

Definition: Serving God by serving people. John 21: 15 – 17 - “Peter, do you love Me? Feed my sheep….”

Note: A. We are saved to serve. Eph. 2:10

B. We are gifted to serve. I Pet. 4:10

C. Serving is expected of us. John 13:14-16

D. Serving is essential to us

WHEN YOU PRACTICE BIBLICAL SERVANTHOOD, YOU……

#1. Do good. Acts 10:38 (God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power and He went around doing good) plus good - Making a Difference – Rom. 12:21 – Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

#2 Portray Christ – who gives light, revelation, the opportunity to see, and choose Christ.

#3. Inspire people Examples: Mother Teresa, Princess Di – who had the greatest long term impact? When you inspire people, you----

A. Offer a sense of self-worth (significance, value, special)

B. Encourage them to service.

#4. Grow personally.

#5. Strengthen the body Eph. 4:11-13

#6. Channel God’s power John 14:10 I Pet. 4:10 I Cor. 3:9

#7. Invest in eternity.

A. Make a difference in people

B. Make a difference in society

C. Lay up treasures and rewards for self – Matt. 25.21

The Model of Servanthood is Jesus. Matt. 20:25-28

The Application: “your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…..”

Phil. 2:5-7

Serving is expected and essential.
